Some strange painting i made recently. I quite like it because it's different from my normal work. Hope you like it too!

Black, blue and white

I'm currently experimenting a lot. And made some quick paintings in black and white with some blue in it. I can tell you everything about it, but the best is just to show some pictures. So here they are. Cheers!

Jasmijn and the forest.

Only a small, light way leads through this huge, dark forest. In this darkness creatures are hidden in the shadows. It's allmost like a fairytale...

In real life it's better...

I'm experimenting a bit with oil paint. This is something I made with the station of La Rochelle (France) in my head as inspiration. Apart from brushes I also used other stuff to put the paint on, like pieces of cardboard. I like the result because it really gave me some new looks on what I can do with oil paint. And as the title of this message says, it's better when you look at it in real life. Then you can see the colours better and really see the texture of the paint.

On a drive through the country, again...

On my way from one side of the country to another I realised that the conditions were perfect for a picture. So here it is. Just as a reminder how good life is, or something like that.

I made this oil painting of a photograph I took 2 years ago. Both the painting and the photograph worked out pretty well I think.

Concert

I visited a concert from the band Katatonia last weekend, it was very cool and I made some pics there. Most of it was rubbish (as usual with concerts) but this one was pretty ok and I thought it's worth posting here. So here it is. ;)

A smoke for the stress

A friend of me who was staying with me a couple of days while having a smoke. Just like the picture because of her look in the eyes that tell a thousend stories. :)

Making it bigger.

We had an assignment on the academy to make some really small drawings with ink from some random artwork made by famous artists. After we had done that, we were told to make a larger painting inspired by the really small drawings we had made earlier. The thought behind this is that in a small drawing you can really focus on the composition, because you can see everything in one shot. So here's the result of that.

Hi there,

This is my first message on this blog, as you will probably have noticed. I shall start with introducing myself a bit. My name is Rik and I'm currently 20 years old. I live in the Netherlands and I study art. In this blog I'll try to post the stuff I create and that happens to me. Like the art I make, photography, modelbuilding (which is a great hobby of me) and also some stuff about my cars, who are a great source for stories and unusual things to happen. So well, that's it for now. More will be added soon. =)
